ABOUT
Hi, I’m Amba aka “ that lady from Winchmore Hill & Local”
This lovely local story all started as part of the “local.life” project based in various areas around London set up by my fab friend Johanna Herman during lockdown to help locals and businesses connect during those weird years.
My family were new to the area, so I thought I’d give it a go to help support local businesses and maybe meet some people in our new ends. I set up the Winchmore Hill Local Instagram account 4 years ago and have been totally blown away by how warm and welcoming everyone is. Businesses and locals alike welcomed us and the project with open arms and I suddenly found myself with so many amazing places and things to share and a crew of fantastic friends to try them out with!
So, it’s all grown from there really accidentally, but in the loveliest way. Our heart very much belongs to N21, but as the world opened up again, so did our “catchment” area, as our interests led us into surrounding boroughs and basically anything that catches my eye that I can get to via public transport in under an hour (yep, I’m 39 and still can’t drive, but luckily Mr WHL is a great chauffeur)
I LOVE where we live and sharing all my local faves. So if you like supporting local businesses, fun times with the fam, nights out with your mates, date nights, coffee, music, food, fitness, clothes, wellbeing, dancing, art or just messing about in one of our many epic parks… stick around for my guide to having a brilliant time in North London.
Big big love

Hi, I’m Amba aka “ that lady that does Winchmore Hill & Local”
This lovely local story all started as part of the brilliant “local.life” project based in various areas around London set up by my friend Johanna Herman during lockdown to help locals and businesses connect during those weird years.
My family were new to the area, so I thought I’d give it a go to meet new people and find out a bit more about the area. I set up the Winchmore Hill Local Instagram account 4 years ago and began documenting my family’s adventures in and around N21.
So, it’s all grown from there really accidentally, but in the loveliest way. Our heart very much belongs to N21, but as the world opened up again, so did our “catchment” area, as our interests led us into surrounding boroughs and basically anything that catches my eye that I can get to via public transport in under an hour (yep, I’m nearly 39 and still can’t drive, but luckily Mr WHL is a great chauffeur)
I LOVE North London, meeting people, music, food, clothes, a bit of pampering, dancing like no one is watching, spending days with the fam, being creative, messing about outdoors and a new one on me is that I suddenly love working out (never saw that one coming!) so stick around for my guide to Living Joyfully in North London.
Big big love
