I have a secret to share with you.
That secret is the most amazing Italian wine I’ve ever tasted. It’s the kind of wine you find (if you’re lucky) on your travels. A rare and precious liquid that locals usually keep for themselves. In this case, not because they’re selfish, but because Torre Raone, the picturesque, boutique vineyard where it’s produced only make it in small batches. I first discovered it 15 years ago on a trip to Abruzzo with my husband, Andrea.
I brought some home and shared it with friends. They loved it as much as I do. Which got me thinking. What if I could start importing it? Now, I’m no wine anorak. I’m a Mum of three, that has made her hobby her job. But, somehow, I managed to arrange a meeting with the producers. And somehow, maybe purely through my passion and enthusiasm for their wonderful product, I convinced them to give me sole UK distribution rights.
